pricetext Attribute

The pricetext attribute changes the default text displayed by the paid-link when the mouse hovers over it.

• pricetext="pay" - writes only "pay" on the paid-link.
• pricetext="download" - writes only "to download" on the paid-link.

Besides the change in the text displayed on the paid-link price, the pricetext attribute has no additional impact. This means it is used in situations where the functionality of the link does not need to change; only the link text needs to change to better reflect the type of content being paid.

Please note that other attributes, such as duration and donate also change the text of the paid-link price; the difference is that these attributes also change the functionality of the link.

Why is the pricetext attribute not free text?

The pricetext attribute does not let you display any text that you desire on the paid-link. Only a few options are allowed.

There are two reasons for this:

• First, note that the text displayed on the paid-link is translated to the selected language; this would not be possible if you could type any text you wanted.
• Second, to reduce the user's Mental Transaction Costs (MTC), you should include in the paid-link text only a few foreseeable and known options. Non-constant text increases the MTC and hinders the sales process of your website. iCents.net provides a small number of text options, but these are enough for virtually all payment situations you may encounter.
