Secret conversation for businesses:

- High security 256 bits cryptography.

- Only the selected participants are able to view it (even Seesmic won't have access to it, since encrypt/decrypt is done in the participants' computers).

Instant publicity:

This video will be displayed 100 times in Seesmic home-page or to other Facebook users.

What is this page?

This is a fake Facebook page with a fake Seesmic Application, designed to demonstrate the iCents payment tool technology.

We will demonstrate how a Facebook application could allow users to pay on Facebook, using iCents.

This is just one example of how iCents technology can be used by Facebook Applications. iCents is a very flexible Ajax payment tool, so there are several different ways to use it. Please consider this demo just one of dozens of possibilities.

Please click the "Next" button below.

Explanation:

Facebook is a social network that allows users to install "applications" in their profile pages. Here to the left you have a fake Facebook profile page.

We pretend the user has installed a video application that allows users to start video conversations or reply to other users. These conversations can be made public or private.

In this demo, the application would allow users to access two special paid features, one directed to private conversations and another directed to public conversations.

Private Conversations

If you are having private business conversations through the video application, one concern is that your videos must really remain private. It must not be possible for some hacker to copy your video while it is being transmitted between your computer and the video servers.

In this demo, below the video there is a button labeled "Cryptograph this video conversation". By clicking this button you can pay a few cents to cryptograph the current video conversation. Payment can be made by any of the conversation participants, at any time, and will affect all subsequent videos in this conversation.

Public Conversations

On the contrary, if you are having public conversations and you want your video conversation to spread quickly, you can ask the application to publicize it. You may pay a few cents, and the conversation will be featured a hundred times to other Facebook users.

Please remember these two features are just examples of interesting premium features a Facebook application could offer. Application developers would easily come up with other interesting features for their own applications.

What is important here is to realize how easy it is to take a Facebook Application like this and use iCents to implement the Freemium Business Model: offering basic services for free, while charging for advanced or special features.

How do I test it?

1) Roll the mouse over the "Cryptograph this video conversation" button, or the "Publicize this video conversation" button, just below the Seesmic video.

You will see that their prices appear just like in this paid link.

2) When you click the "cryptograph" or the "publicize" button, a Payment Window will appear to let you pay.

Note: the first time you pay for content with iCents, you will have to sign in with the payment system you like using.

Please click here to learn how to do it, in case you haven't signed in already.

3) Click PAY in the Payment Window, to perform the action you chose (cryptograph or publicize the video conversation).
